Oilers Complete Two Trades
Ceci Traded To Sharks
The Edmonton Oilers have traded defenseman Cody Ceci to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a conditional 2025 second-round pick, the team announced Monday.
Ceci, 29, was acquired by the Oilers from the Toronto Maple Leafs in July 2021. He appeared in 81 games for Edmonton last season, recording four goals and 17 assists.
The Oilers also announced on Monday that they have signed forward Mattias Ekholm to a three-year, $12 million contract.
Oilers Sign Ekholm
Ekholm, 32, was acquired by the Oilers from the Nashville Predators in a trade last week. He has spent the last nine seasons with the Predators, recording 104 goals and 311 assists in 688 games.
The Oilers have been busy making moves this offseason, having also signed forwards Evander Kane and Jack Campbell.
The Oilers are hoping that the additions of Ekholm, Kane, and Campbell will help them contend for the Stanley Cup next season.
