No Poll Workers Cannot Disqualify Your Ballot by Writing on It

Florida

In Florida poll workers are trained not to make any marks on a ballot, even if they notice an error.

This is because once a ballot is cast, it becomes the property of the voter and cannot be altered in any way.

If a poll worker does make a mistake, they must immediately notify their supervisor and the voter.

The supervisor will then determine if the mistake can be corrected without affecting the voter's intent.

Texas

Texas state law requires poll workers to sign the back of each mail ballot envelope.

This signature is used to verify the identity of the voter and to ensure that the ballot was not tampered with.

If a poll worker fails to sign the back of the envelope, the ballot may be rejected.

Voting Before Election Day

If you vote before Election Day, a poll worker will mark your ballot to indicate that you have voted.

This mark does not void your ballot and you do not have to vote again on Election Day.
