Wizards' Gun Hire Former NBA Star JJ Redick As Assistant Coach
Former professional basketball player JJ Redick is joining the Washington Wizards organization as an assistant coach. Redick played for 15 seasons in the NBA, most notably with the New Orleans Pelicans, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Philadelphia 76ers. He averaged 12.8 points per game for his career and was known for his shooting prowess, making 41.5% of his three-pointers. Redick retired from playing in 2021 but has remained involved in the sport as a sportscaster and analyst. He will join head coach Wes Unseld Jr. and the Wizards' staff. Redick is regarded as a skilled shooter and an experienced player.
With Redick on the coaching staff, the Wizards hope to improve their three-point shooting and overall offense. Redick retired as one of the best three-point shooters in NBA history, ranking 11th all-time in three-pointers made. He will be able to provide valuable insight and guidance to the Wizards' players, who are looking to improve their three-point shooting.
Redick will join a Wizards team that is coming off a disappointing season. The Wizards finished 33-49 and missed the playoffs. They were led by Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, and Kyle Kuzma. Redick will be expected to help the Wizards improve on both ends of the court. He is a smart basketball mind and a great communicator. He will be able to help the Wizards' young players develop and reach their potential.
